Order of Victory

Of course a copy but a very nice one.
The Order of Victory (Russian: Орден "Победa", Orden "Pobeda") was the highest military decoration in the Soviet Union, and one of the rarest orders in the world. The order was awarded only to Generals and Marshals for successfully conducting combat operations involving one or more army groups and resulting in a "successful operation within the framework of one or several fronts resulting in a radical change of the situation in favor of the Red Army." In its history, it has been awarded twenty times to thirteen Soviet leaders and five foreign leaders, with one revocation.

After a holder of the Order of Victory died, the award was to be given back to the state.

CHERNOBYL LIQUIDATOR MEDAL (Numbered)

Very unusual, one of the very few numbered I have seen.

A genuine 'Hero of Chernobyl' medal. These were awarded to the brave volunteers who helped contain
and clean-up after the 1986 tragedy at the infamous Chernobyl reactor in Ukraine. Each is gold-gilt and emblazoned with an enameled diagram of an atom being split.
The text reads "Participant in the liquidation of the accident consequences", and the center text is the acronym for the power station.
Liquidators (Russian: ликвида́торы) is the name given in the former
USSR to approximately 800 000 people who were in charge of the removal of the consequences of the
April 26, 1986 Chernobyl disaster on the site of the event. The central detail of the Liquidators' badge,
with traces of alpha (α),  beta (β) and gamma (γ) particles over a drop of blood
(Formally, it is not a medal but a "badge", Znachi).

Medal for Victory over Germany, Var 1
1940s - early 50s.
Very fine condition. Comes with new brass suspension device and new ribbon.

The official approval of the medal was established on 9th May 1945, which is celebrated in Russia and Eastern Europe as a Victory Day. Work on the medal prototype had already commenced at the end of 1944 in the anticipation of the upcoming victory. Most of the awards were granted right after the end of the war. A proof of participation in the combat military operations was usually required, in order to be eligible for this decoration. After the war, the medal, along with its less widespread sister medal For The Victory Over Japan, was commonly used to distinguish between the actual veterans of World War II and all non-combat participants

Medal for the Capture of Berlin, Var 1 (separate ring), 1940s - early 50s

Awarded to Soviet service personnel who took part in the capture of Berlin from 22 April and 2 May 1945.
The Battle of Berlin was the final major offensive of the European Theatre of World War II and was designated the Berlin Strategic Offensive Operation by the Soviet Union.
*
Starting on 16 January 1945, the Red Army breached the German front as a result of the Vistula–Oder Offensive and advanced westward as much as 40 kilometers a day, through East Prussia, Lower Silesia, East Pomeranian, and Upper Silesia, temporarily halting on a line 60 kilometers east of Berlin along the Oder River. During the offensive, two Soviet fronts (army groups) attacked Berlin from the east and south, while a third overran German forces positioned north of Berlin. The Battle in Berlin lasted from late 20 April 1945 until the morning of 2 May and was one of the bloodiest battles in history.

The first defensive preparations at the outskirts of Berlin were on 20 March, when the newly appointed commander of the Army Group Vistula, General Gotthard Heinrici, correctly anticipated that the main Soviet thrust would be made over the Oder River. Before the main battle in Berlin commenced, the Soviets managed to encircle the city as a result of the smaller battles of the Seelow Heights and Halbe. During 20 April 1945, the 1st Belarusian Front led by Marshal Georgy Zhukov started shelling Berlin's city centre, while Marshal Ivan Konev's 1st Ukrainian Front had pushed in the north through the last formations of Army Group Centre. The German defenses were mainly led by Helmuth Weidling and consisted of several depleted, badly equipped, and disorganized Werhrmacht and Waffen-SS divisions, as well as many Volkssturm and Hitler Youth members. Within the next days, the Soviets were rapidly advancing through the city and were reaching the city centre, conquering the Reichstag on 30 April after fierce fighting.

Before the battle was over, German Führer Adolf Hitler and many of his followers committed suicide. The city's defenders finally surrendered on 2 May. However, fighting continued to the north-west, west and south-west of the city until the end of the war in Europe on 8 May (9 May in the Soviet Union) as German units fought westward so that they could surrender to the Western Allies rather than to the Soviets.

Soviet period (1979 - 1991) Afghanistan Distinguished Military Service Medal As most of Soviet Era (DRA, RA) Afghan awards, this particular very rare decoration is virtually a copy of Soviet Distinguished Military Service Medal , with slight variations, of course - Dari writing. Awarded to Afghan Servicemen AND SOVIET ADVISERS in the name of the Government of Democratic Republic of
Afghanistan. Made by the Soviet Mint. This medal (just like all other Afghan awards of that period) is VERY-VERY-VERY RARE for two reasons - very few of them were awarded, and NOBODY wanted to be caught with one after 1992 - would have been a direct pass to the
gallows in the hands of new, post-Soviet Afghan regime, as a "traitor" of Islamic Afghanistan
and "collaborator" with Soviet "occupants".

ORDER OF THE RED STAR (WW2)

Established on 6 April 1930, the Order of the Red Star (Russian: Орден Краснoй Звезды)
was an order of the Soviet Union, given to Red Army and Soviet Navy personnel for  "exceptional service in the cause of the defense of the Soviet Union in both war and peace".  The first recipient was Vasily Blyukher in September 1930.
The Order consisted of an enamelled red pentagonal star, with a white metal image of a soldier bearing a rifle in the center. Below the soldier are the letters "СССР" (SSSR), and surrounding him is the Communist motto, "Workers of the world, unite!" At the bottom of the star is the hammer
and sickle. The order was worn on the right chest without ribbon; on less formal occasions a ribbon bar, dark red with a silver central stripe, may be worn instead.
The Order of the Red Star was one of the most common military decorations during the Great Patriotic War, with almost 3 million awards made to more than 2 million individuals, many of whom were junior officers.
From 1944 to 1958, until the establishment of the Irreproachable Service Medal, the order was also
used as a long service award, to mark fifteen years of service in the military, state security, or police.
Worn condition, enamel damage.
This star was awarded 1946.
